Once known as the “glass palace,” it remains a remarkable example of modernist architecture in Gdańsk. There is no other building in Gdańsk that has sparked as much controversy. To this day, we must ask ourselves the question that keeps coming back like a boomerang in many discussions in Gdańsk: tear it down or leave it standing?
This is a website created to collect stories about Wrzeszcz and the memories of its residents. On the site, we publish interviews with residents, historical articles, photo essays, and educational videos. We document oral history and explore the complex history of the Wrzeszcz neighborhood. To commemorate this milestone, we published a commemorative newspaper featuring articles by Jarosław Wasielewski on the history of the place, Szymon Kowalewski on the building’s architecture, residents’ memories, a report by Dawid Chrąchol, and archival photographs by Zbigniew and Maciej Kosycarz.
